Frequently asked questions.

Services

  • Absolutely! We offer free 15 minute meet-and-greet sessions.

  • Unfortunately not. We see people 18 years or older. Children/teens are most welcome to be present with you during your visit here.

  • Yes, he does.

  • Dr. Neuman no longer practices obstetrics/delivers babies. He is happy to co-manage (alongside one’s OB/FMOB/Midwife) any medical issues while people are pregnant.

  • Dr. Neuman will be able to help answer healthcare questions you may have while in hospital, though he will not be able to control management of care through the hospital. Nowadays, it is exceedingly rare that primary care docs do hospital work. We specialize in trying to keep you out of the hospital!

  • Not routinely. For already enrolled patients who have developed mobility issues on a short-term basis and cannot use video technology and live within 30 minutes drive of clinic, we happily can work this out.

  • We will make every attempt to get this to happen during normal business hours. Rarely, it is not in the cards and next-day appointment is offered, though we strive to be able to offer same day appointments.

  • We are available 24/7 for emergency calls (for example: “I’m unsure if I need to go to the hospital”) and weekdays 9 am-6 pm for all calls (refills, new symptoms, questions, scheduling). Option to leave a message for off-hours non-emergency calls so that we can call you back first thing in the morning! We do our best to respond to all calls within 24 hours.

Practice Model

  • We do not take insurance. Multiple staff members are needed to negotiate and navigate insurance claims. Insurances each require their own set of data reporting. As well, insurance companies reimburse little for primary care visits. Taken together, this means healthcare companies/doctors must ‘churn’ out patients quickly to stay afloat and cover these expenses. This churn is designed to satisfy insurance companies; it leads to less time with your doctor and less personalized care. Ally Primary Care was born out of the idea that we, as healthcare, can do better for patients and doctors alike. Typical insurance-based primary care doctors will have 15-minute appointments with over 2,000 patients per doctor.

  • We charge less while seeing a similar number of patients! Concierge practices usually require yearly sign-up and also bill your insurance. Compared to Concierge, we have 3 and 12-month packages as opposed to only yearly, so you are not locked in if you would not like to be. We do not bill insurance for visits; billing insurance is typical for concierge practices. Billing insurance could lead to getting hidden bills, something we never want for our patients. Some concierge doctors offer off-hours routine visits and home visits, whereas we only do this on an urgent case-by-case basis.

  • No. We are a small Primary Care clinic.

  • Yes! What happens if you get in a bad car wreck? Or, heavens forbid, you would need to go into the hospital or get a terrible illness? It's not only legally required, but it is also a good idea to get insurance. Even so, Ally Primary Care can save you money. Our model has been shown to decrease overall healthcare spending by 19.6%. Fewer ER visits, fewer specialist visits, and a steep reduction in lab work, medication, and imaging test costs. No co-pays and no co-insurance.

  • Of course! (Though please do consider getting a health insurance plan, see above)

  • The model originated with insurance in the 1970s with Kaiser, in 1996 concierge medicine, and in 2007 earlier version of the direct primary care model. Given how successful the model is for patients and physicians, the business model has boomed. One of the leading DPC information websites listed 125 practices in 2014, 620 in 2017, and 1,832 in 2022.

Billing

  • Many patients use these as payment. You can speak to your employee benefits person or CPA (tax person) to find out if you can use yours to cover our services.

  • No way!

  • Credit/debit cards, bank transfer, checks

  • Payment is due at the time of the first appointment.

  • Visits, calls, emails, and texts are all included in membership fees. There is no additional charge for visits.

Meet-and-Greet

  • Absolutely free.

  • Usually 10-15 minutes.

  • Certainly not. We offer a range of telecommunication options. We would always love for you to see our comfy clinic in person if you can!

  • No, if you decide you would like to enroll, then we would ask for this information.

  • We designed these sessions for you to get a feel for Dr. Neuman and our office experience. During these meetings, we ask about your healthcare goals and what you seek in healthcare services to see if we may provide a good fit. We also take this opportunity to answer any questions about our business model or benefits.
